The workshop series was themed around reimagining migrant return through systemic equity, youth empowerment, and rights-based action. The series was led by Mr. Dipak Tharu, with technical support from Mr. Prabin Shrestha, to promote long-term transformation for youth empowerment.

The “Transforming Communities: Whole-of-Society Reintegration” workshop is a core event under the Youth Social Entrepreneurship Education for All with Moodle (YSEEAM) project, a digital transformation initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union with a 123,575 EUR grant. Operating under project reference 608763-EPP-1-2019-1-IT-EPPKA2-CBY-ACPALA from November 1, 2019, to October 31, 2021, the broader YSEEAM project builds youth worker capacity in ACP countries, Latin America, and Asia by delivering entrepreneurial insights and technical training to launch innovative courses on MOODLE.

This specific interactive workshop reimagines aspiring young migrants and returnees by shifting traditional, passive policy frameworks toward long-term systemic equity, human rights, and youth empowerment. Spanning two parts—the first on June 28, 2021, and the second on July 10, 2021, in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu—the workshop was officially inaugurated by Chief Guest Ward Chairman Mohan Bista and engaged 35 young aspiring migrants, returnees, policymakers, and grassroots leaders to actively center youth voices as vital drivers of national development.
The first interactive workshop, held on January 1, 2026, for the “Green Horizons: Youth for Inclusion, Climate Action, and Digital Empowerment” project, utilized a diverse mix of team-building activities, role-plays, simulations, outdoor experiential learning, digital storytelling, intercultural evenings, and structured group reflections to accommodate various learning styles and foster self-directed growth. Supported by the mentoring of group leaders and youth workers who champion vital youth-adult partnerships, participants are empowered to set personal milestones and track their progress through daily learning diaries, culminating in a validated Youthpass certificate. This comprehensive approach establishes a powerful long-term vision; it transforms participants into confident ambassadors of sustainability and digital empowerment who co-create tangible community resources like the “Eco-Inclusion Toolkit.” Concurrently, these sessions build the capacity of participating organizations to design future Erasmus+ initiatives that align with the EU Youth Strategy priorities of inclusion, diversity, environmental sustainability, digital transformation, and active youth participation.

One of the major psychological issues for adolescents is developing a better understanding of themselves. This means that the component of self awareness is crucial to a youth leadership development program. Youth would be given time to reflect on their own values, talents, and skills and ways in which they could best use their abilities to provide service for others. Attempts would also be made to place individual values & goals into a cultural context to assist youth in better understanding the impact of their cultures on their own values & plans.
