Welcome to YPDSN !!!

Welcome to Young Professional Development Society Nepal !!!

Young Professional Development Society Nepal (YPDSN) is a nonprofit community based organization working on professional development, youth and women empowerment, education and livelihood promotion. YPDSN aspires to improve the living conditions of the poor and marginalized by adopting strategies through community initiative, participation and sensitization. It is founded in 2013 and has been working among backward communities in the interior unreached pockets in the coast of Nepal. Women self support groups have been taken as the base for all interventions and SDGs activities enabling them to contribute towards the mainstream of development process.

Culture has the power to transform entire societies, strengthen local communities and forge a sense of identity belonging to people of all ages. As a vector for youth development and civic engagement, culture plays an essential role in promoting sustainable socio-economic development for future generations. Youth can bridge between cultures and serve as key agents in promoting peace and intercultural understanding. We have an ambitious agenda in relation to youth participation which not only seeks to involve young people in making decisions within our organization, but which works towards young people participating more fully in decisions in their own lives, in our practice, their communities and in Nepalese society and beyond. Youth work practice is at the cutting edge of government initiatives and we shall continue to ensure we are in the mix with regard to all of the main policies and strategies which affect the lives of our young people. We have still much to do in particular regarding the raising attainment agenda as well as making the case for better and more consistent support and youth work, whether it be universal or targeted, voluntary sector, local authority or agency led.

We enhance sustainability of  Youth engagement and progression YSEEAM – Youth Social Entrepreneurship for All with Moodleframework which opens the way for the contribution of youth work organizations to be better connected with broader support services. Across Nepal, we look to the implementation of this strategy to underpin delivery of the Youth engagement and progression framework and in so doing to support a more consistent and integrated offer to young people. It is essential that the different projects and activities are not considered as a one-time experience for the young participants. They should rather be a starting point for the youth to have continuous interest and participate further in the promotion of professional development and empowerment.  Youth work has an important role to play in supporting the Nepal Government’s commitment to help everyone reach their potential. It also helps to tackle poverty, reduce inequality, increase levels of educational attainment and employment, improve economic and social well-being, address health and other inequalities and increase young people’s participation in society.

One of the major psychological issues for adolescents is developing a better understanding of themselves. This means that the component of self awareness is crucial to a youth leadership development program. Youth would be given time to reflect on their own values, talents, and skills and ways in which they could best use their abilities to provide service for others. Attempts would also be made to place individual values & goals into a cultural context to assist youth in better understanding the impact of their cultures on their own values & plans.

Get Involved

Excellent programs must be based on clearly articulated values and a philosophy which reflects those values. This model is based on valuing and promoting growth and learning, collaboration, inclusivity, diversity, openness, creativity, flexibility, innovation, and harmony. It also uses a systems approach which defines leadership as a complex system involving the skills, abilities, and knowledge of the leader”, the skills, abilities, and knowledge of the followers“ and the context in which all interact. The potential and responsibility to be a leader.

OUR WORK

Participants would identify various needs in the community, prioritize and choose a specific area in which to work, and would work in small groups to design a specific project, implement and evaluate the project. Through this process, they would become more involved in the community, feel a sense of their part in the community, and provide a real service. Staff would facilitate the process in which groups of students select priorities and design projects, implement these projects, and evaluate the group‘s effectiveness in carrying out this process.
